Tyler first picked up the guitar at the age of thirteen and less than a year later he was on stage fronting his first band ‘Stratosfear’.
After taking GCSE and A – Level music and gaining his grade 8 in guitar with the Registry of Guitar Tutors he went on to study at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music.
Tyler fronts the popular ‘Last of the Light Brigade’ and has toured the UK numerous times supporting the likes of Paul Weller, Primal Scream, Ocean Colour Scene and more recently Wilko Johnson in Guernsey and abroad. Last of the Light Brigade also had the opportunity to play on the mainstage of Jersey Live 2010 and Guernsey Arts Festival 2011.
In September 2011 Tyler set up his own guitar teaching business and built up a sizeable client base in a small amount of time. With so many enquires and hardly enough time in the day to fulfil them, he had a vision of a music school that would cater for all ages and abilities and incorporate as many instruments as possible. The School of Popular Music was born.
SOPM is now the biggest independent music school in the Channel Islands employing ten tutors in total. Tyler has established himself as a young and exciting entrepreneur who embodies music and the arts locally. Since establishing SOPM he has also founded Spotlight Guernsey LBG and co-directs two other emerging companies based within the arts.
