Simon grew up in the UK, first training in classical piano but soon branching out into playing in bands, ensembles, working as an accompanist and even a brief stint as a church organist, before training in teaching and music at King Alfred’s college, Winchester.
Simon then spent 12 years teaching in various Hampshire schools, leading bands and musical directing for various theatre companies before moving to Guernsey in 2014. Aside from his day job in finance, Simon has played piano and musically directed numerous theatre shows in Guernsey, has taught audition preparation technique and regularly plays with the Big Band Collective, the Guernsey Jazz Orchestra, as well as several other local bands. Simon’s musical background and influences cover everything from Debussy & Stravinsky to Scott Bradlee, Jools Holland and Frank Zappa.
