After taking GCSE and A-level music alongside four Grade 8 practical exams (including a distinction in voice) Lydia went on to complete her BA Hons Music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2008, followed by an MA in Music Composition from Leeds College of Music (LCM) in 2010, where she also studied jazz vocals. In 2016 she was awarded a scholarship from The Voice College; The John Owen-Jones Award, enabling her to study for an Advanced Professional Diploma in Teaching Contemporary Singing, which she completed with Distinction. She subsequently won the college’s prestigious ‘P.J. Proby Award for Achievement’ as student-teacher of the year in 2017.

Lydia now works as a voice and piano teacher alongside a very active performing career; as a solo artist, in an acoustic duo ‘Jo & Lydia’ and as front-woman for Jazz combo ‘Stormy Monday’. She has performed across the Channel Islands, various UK venues and as far afield as LA. Also showing a flair for musical-theatre, Lydia has taken lead roles in many large-scale local productions, including Eva Peron in “EVITA” (Evoke, 2008), Maria Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music” (Evoke, 2010) and most recently and most recently Fantine in ‘Les Miserables’ (GADOC 2016).

Lydia has also had much success as a composer, being a finalist for the National Centre for Early Music’s Young Composer Award 2012, the Songdoor International Songwriting Competition 2012, the Australian Boys Choir Choral Composition Competition 2014, and most recently the Young New Yorker’s Chorus Young Composer Award 2018.
