Teaching: Voice

From 4 years old, Charlotte has danced and sung wherever, and whenever possible, competing in many competitions within the Channel Islands and Europe.

Charlotte was taught singing from a very young age by her Gran, Janet Bran – she also attended GATE (Guernsey Academy of Theatrical Education) studying Ballet, Modern, Tap, Street Jazz and Theatre. She comes from a family of talented musicians and creatives, so her relationship with music and singing has always been strong.

Charlotte studied A Levels in Media Studies, Theatre Studies and English Literature & Language and went on to further her learning in singing, dance and Musical Theatre at Performers College in 2018, gaining a First Class (Hons) Degree in 2021.

In 2021, Charlotte appeared in her first professional theatre performance with local company, “Tin Whistle Productions”, multi-roling several characters within the play. This helped to develop an interest in accent, vocal quality, and what the voice can do to tell a story.

Charlotte furthered this interest by taking a position on the ‘New Voices’ scheme at BBC Radio Guernsey which gave her the opportunity of producing morning and afternoon programmes, as well as contributing live on air with the presenters. Learning how to tell a non-fictional story in a way that is engaging and captivating really helped Charlotte to flex a different muscle when it came to her story-telling skills.

Charlotte is so grateful to be able to join the wonderful team at SOPM and to follow in the footsteps of her Grandmother by sharing the joy of music with the Guernsey community. She has had an absolute ball so far and looks forward to meeting more students and like minded musicians!
