Liz began her musical education aged 4 with the piano. She quickly became involved in many musical activities and at the age of 14 gained a place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where she received tuition on the oboe, piano and voice alongside her academic studies. This was followed by obtaining a BMus(Hons) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1999.
Whilst in London, Liz discovered a passion for teaching and continued her studies with a PGCE in primary education. She then taught in the classroom for several years and was involved in promoting whole-class instrumental teaching throughout local schools. This culminated in her becoming a lead teacher for music.
Following a move to Guernsey in 2009, Liz taught woodwind instruments for the School’s Music Service, as well as accompanying several groups on the piano, before returning once more to the classroom. Liz has played the oboe and piano in various ensembles in Guernsey and is known for being very versatile.
