I started playing the guitar at the age of eleven. From this point, I completely immersed myself in the music world and in the following 10 years, between the period I spent in the music conservatory and the music college, both located in São Paulo, I got the chance to study with seven different guitar teachers, including Edu Ardanuy, considered the best rock guitar player in Brazil. This huge experience as guitar student brought me also a huge background about teaching guitar.
In parallel, I developed a big passion for music production, having worked with several brazilian bands and artists through these years, creating all kinds of arrangements for different kinds of music, including my own bands and solo projects released on Spotify. This part also contributed a lot for my guitar teaching style, being able, for example, to quickly find solutions to create new extra individual exercises and guitar arrangements for each of my students, according to their individual levels and their musical needs. My experience as producer also allows me to record the audio for the students, during some lessons, giving the students an important register to keep it with them and also a little sample and experience about how an official recording session could be.
Music brought me to Guernsey for the first time in 2016, through a very magical reason. This history can be watched in a 28 minutes documentary called “Denis Salgado – Live in Guernsey”. That time I couldn’t imagine that some years later I would be part of this incredible team of tutors from SOPM. This is the beautiful power of music. You play notes and you never know where they can take you!
